Financial Literacy Training Minimum Standards Launched!

As part of a learning review series around Financial Inclusion, the Inter-Agency Cash Working Group (CWG) identified a need to harmonise Financial Literacy Training (FLT) practices in Uganda’s refugee response. In response to this need, we’re excited to share the “Uganda Refugee Response Financial Literacy Training Minimum Standards”.

Developed by the CWG FLT Technical Core Team, with support from U-Learn, these FLT \Minimum Standards are a starting point for ensuring consistent, coherent, and equitable financial literacy training for all refugees. If all financial literacy training programmes can meet these minimum standards, the response will be able to provide real opportunities for refugees to gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to manage their money well.

The FLT minimum standards are a starting point for FLT programme design and implementation. They define the basics of what a training must provide to be considered FLT but all implementers are encouraged to do more.

The FLT Minimum Standards is a downloadable, easy-to-navigate document, and each standard is clearly and concisely explained and justified. The standards cover: Identification and targeting of participants, Trainers, Planning and delivery, Curriculum, Certification, and Monitoring and Evaluation.

If your organisation has a financial literacy training programme, or you are thinking of developing one, download the  FLT Minimum Standards today and share it with your colleagues. You can use the standards to check the content and quality of your current programme or as a framework to develop something new. If you are a financial literacy training provider, use the  FLT Minimum Standards  to make sure you are providing an ethical, complete, and valuable service.

If you have feedback on the FLT Minimum Standards or would like guidance on how to use them, please email us at info@ulearn-uganda.org.
